"Let's light Germany up green"
The German Children's Hospice Association initiates the "Day of Children's Hospice Work" every year on February 10. On this day of remembrance, nationwide attention is to be drawn to the situation of young people with life-shortening illnesses. Here in Lingen, the Löwenherz Children's Hospice called for "Let's light Germany up green!" As a result, the facades of numerous buildings shone in green light during the evening hours. A ribbon of lights of solidarity, so to say.
We say "thank you" to everyone who supports sick children and their families even in these times.
1st place at the Evonik Partner Award
Exemplary safety performance at the Essen site
For an outstanding safety performance in 2020, we were awarded 1st place in the Partner Award in Essen on February 3, 2021. Cooperation and execution of work are judged from the point of view of occupational safety.
The aim of the "Safety at Evonik" cempetition is to raise even greater awareness of occupational safety. The Group awards one occupational safety prize per site each year to raise awareness among partner companies and motivate them to contribute to an even deeper common understanding of occupational safety and health protection at each site.

More power for the asphalt sector
Since Ferbruary 1, 2021, the company, which has been active in road construction and civil engineering since 1958, has been part of the Mainka family of companies.
The company Bock focuses on the rehabilitation of damaged areas, the creation of construction and commercial areas as well as smaller asphalt work in the area of federal, state and district roads.
After the managing director Heinrich Bock could not transfer the company within the family due to a lack of succession, he decided to sell the company. We were able to convince him that he would continue the company as an independent enterprise. This means: Bock remains Bock; location, customers and also the field of activity remain.
We are looking forward to working with our new colleagues and wish them every success!
Together against Corona
Voluntary and preventive Corona test among around 800 employees
The first item on the to-do list of all colleagues was to take part in the voluntary and preventive Corona test on January 6 and 7, 2021. At this point, a big thank you goes to all the aid organizations, such as DLRG Lingen and Deutsches Rotes Kreuz Ortsverein Lingen, for their active support. In order to avoid crowds, tests were carried out in Lingen and Gelsenkirchen in three test lines. Testing also took place in Cologne and Brunsbüttel. A total of around 800 employees were tested. Thanks for this preventive measure, we were able to start the new year with a safe feeling.
Mainka adds two members to the management board
Ingo Sperber and Andre Volkmer join Dr. Andreas Mainka, Werner Molde and Andreas Schmidt on the management board since January 1, 2021. Both have been with the company for many years.
We wish Ingo Sperber and Andre Volkmer a successful start.
Mainka supports scholarship holders
Official presentation of the certificate of the scholarship program “EmslandTalents”
The scholarship program „EmslandTalents – Scholarship of the region“ is made for students who study outside of the Emsland and have personal connections to the region.
As we are founders of the program, we received the students in participation of Mechtild Weßling, the director of the trade association, on 18 november at our administration building because the award ceremony of the trade association Emsland with approximately 200 people in march unfortunately had to be cancelled.
While officially handing out the certificates we could get to know the students of the civil engineering. Using that situation we could get in exchange with them as well.
For both, the students and us as benefactor, the scholarship program is a benefit.
It is accomplished – we moved in!
Moving into our new administration building at Darmer Esch
In company of joyful anticipation, cake and confetti we have moved into our new administration building on 9 november 2020. In comparison to the open foyer area on all oft he three storeys on the inside, the building fascinated with a glass facade when regarding it from the outside on the eastern and western site. The foyer areas on the floors will be central receiving offices for our clients.
The already lived „open door culture“ has now also been implemented structurally. With the renunciation of doors in large parts, modern rooms for meetings, copying and breaks have been created. This rooms are central stations and offer space for further communication and exchange.

A quarter of a century near Mainka
Congratulations to your anniversary, Andreas Schmidt!
Andreas Schmidt has been a member of Team Mainka since 16 october 1995.
We were able to congratulate him to his 25th anniversary on 16 october 2020. After several years of beeing an authorized sigatory, Andreas Schmidt took over the commercial management in 2008.
Even though we could only celebrate the anniversary in a small circle because of the pandemic, the whole staff celebrated him in their thoughts and handed him a small video message.
Team Mainka wishes all the best fort he anniversary and looks forward to many more years of working together.

Completion of training with top marks
Our dual student was honored on 4 october 2020 by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Osnabrück – Emsland Grafschaft Bentheim for his graduation. He achieved top marks as a concrete and reinforced concrete builder in the region Grafschaft Bentheim and Emsland and was even honored as the best in the state of Lower Saxony.

Our new facility in Osnabrück has been accessible since August 2020. With good access of the office building to the A30 we can reach our customers quickly in the region of Osnabrück.

Trainees starting in 2020!
Fresh motivated in the second half of the year!
On 3rd August 2020 we welcomed 18 new colleagues. Six trainees in civil and underground construction with a focus on road construction, two trainees in construction equipment operation, two trainees in surface construction, four industrial management trainees, one trainee for IT systems integration.
Furthermore we are pleased to welcome our first dual student working toward a qualification in reinforced concrete construction at our facility in Cologne and one trainee for office management at our facility in Gelsenkirchen.
We wish our new colleagues a great start into their training years with exciting and educational experiences and, above all, an enjoyable time on the #teammainka.
Evonik Partner Award for Mainka
Exemplary safety performance in Essen
For our outstanding safety performance in 2019, we earned 2nd place in the Partner Awards in Essen on 20 February 2020. The competition judges cooperation and execution of construction work from a safety perspective.
The aim of the competition entitled “Sicherheit bei Evonik” (Safety at Evonik) is to draw greater attention to work safety, as health protection and safety are Evonik’s top priorities — which also extend to external partners. The group awards a work safety prize each year at each location in order to sensitize partner firms about the issue, and to motivate them to contribute to an even deeper common understanding of work safety and health protection at every one of their locations.
We say “Thank you” for the award and look forward to our continued successful cooperation.
German Work Safety Prize 2019
Winner in the “Strategic” category
Since 05 November 2019, we have been proud to call ourselves “Winner of the German Work Safety Prize 2019”. In June of 2019, we were one of three enterprises nominated in this category for our commitment to “work safety as a corporate philosophy”, and we won. Our widely established safety consciousness with optimum qualifications and training protects the health of all employees. Our success: For years, our accident statistics have been well below the industry average. We are pleased that our corporate philosophy was acknowledged and proudly accepted the award.
The jury’s conclusion: "Work safety as the cornerstone of a caring culture in an industry with traditionally high rates of accidents.”

Congratulations to our employees celebrating anniversaries in 2019!
On 29 August 2019, we had our annual After Work Party for administrative employees. As every year, we celebrated in the gardens on the grounds of our Lingen plant.
We expressed our heartfelt congratulations to this year’s guests of honor for their many years of commitment and loyalty to our company. We extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Udo Schmidt for 40 years of service, to Manfred Heidötting and Klaus-Dieter Frei for 35 years, and to Andreas Rhein, Matthias Wessels, Wendelin Wald and Johann Heinz for 25 years with Mainka.

For 14 new trainees at our administrative office in Lingen, 01 August 2019 marked the start of their career with our company. We welcome to Team Mainka: three trainees in civil and underground construction with a focus on road construction, three trainees in construction equipment operation, one in surface construction, one dual student working toward a qualification in reinforced concrete construction, five industrial management trainees and one trainee in IT systems integration.
We wish our new colleagues a great start into their training years with exciting and educational experiences and, above all, an enjoyable time on the Mainka team.
German Work Safety Prize 2019
With our corporate philosophy “We build safely — or we don’t build” we entered the competition for the German Work Safety Prize 2019 in the “Strategic” category — with success. In June of 2019, we were one of three enterprises nominated for a prize in this category for our commitment to “work safety as a corporate philosophy”.
The next step will be an audit of the nominated companies in the coming months. Based on the audit results, an independent jury of renowned personalities from the realms of economics, politics, associations and science will honor one company per category for its commitment to work safety.
We are thrilled about the nomination and proud of the recognition of our corporate strategy!

First German construction company with a certified documentation process
Our experience over the past years has shown that different projects and customers have widely differing requirements regarding the structure and encryption of documents and storage formats. This is why we have continuously refined our project documentation structures and templates and adapted them to a wide range of requirements in order to satisfy our customers’ needs.
After comprehensive audits of our processes and procedures, our documentation process was certified by TÜV Austria on 25 February 2019.
We are very proud to be the first construction company in Germany to have earned a certification in this area.
Project “Water purification plant BP Lingen Step 3"
In cooperation with Nijhuis Water Technology BV, Doetinchem /Netherlands we were contracted to build and complete the third and last phase of the BP water treatment plant in Lingen. As the three round tanks and the rectangular tank with walls up to 8.5 m in height are built above ground, the requirements of the project were extremely stringent in terms of not only technology but also visual appearance — an uncommon aspect for a water treatment plant. All structures are built from high-quality exposed concrete with minimal crack width limitation. The project started on 04 March 2019, and completion is scheduled for late 2019.
Apart from the technological implementation, work safety is of the utmost importance in this project, as construction is being carried out in direct proximity to the adjoining refinery and water treatment operation.
The contract was signed on 27 February 2019 at the Nijhuis premises in Doetinchem / Netherlands. We are very pleased about this collaboration!
Important milestone reached: The shell is up!
New structure on Covestro Campus in Leverkusen
During a small “Deckenfest”— the flat-roof equivalent of a topping out ceremony — about 80 project members came together on 17 January 2018 to celebrate the timely completion of our work on the shell of a new building on the Covestro campus in Leverkusen’s Chempark. The result is something to be proud of.
After more than 150,000 work hours, we again completed the construction project without any accidents to report!
Winner of the German Youth Work Safety Prize 2018!
Mainka trainee team again takes 1st Place
On 23 October 2018, the German Youth Work Safety Prize (JAZ) was conferred in Stuttgart at the specialist conference of Arbeitsschutz Aktuell. The prize is issued every two years by FASI (Work Safety Association). The competition honors effective, clever and at the same time economical solutions that can be implemented in other companies.
First place was taken by our trainee team (Peter Berning, Malte Gösse, Christian Schleicher) with their project “Safety mat for reinforcement”.
The mat simply and efficiently provides a secure walking path on construction sites during the installation of reinforcement until the concrete is poured. It dramatically reduces the risk of tripping, snagging or twisting an ankle.
Congratulations to the entire project team and many thanks to our clever trainees for their ideas, their commitment and their dedication.

Opening of our facility in Cologne
... from the Ems to the Rhine
The opening celebration for our new Mainka facility in Cologne took place on 06 September 2018. Its central location right outside the gates of the Shell Rheinland refinery puts is in very close proximity and direct contact with our long-term customers in the Cologne area. We have also found several new colleagues on the Rhineland labor market to join our company.

Our teams are outstanding not only on construction sites, but on the soccer field as well! Our highly motivated Mainka team took part in the Schalke 04 Sponsors’ Cup 2018.
And even though the cup went home with the "Allstars FC Deutsche Post", it was great fun to be there. Well done
After Work Party 2018
Congratulations to our employees celebrating anniversaries in 2018!
On 30 August 2018, we had our annual After Work Party for administrative employees. As every year, we celebrated in the gardens on the grounds of our Lingen plant. Even the “nordic” summer did not dampen everyone’s good spirits.
We expressed our heartfelt congratulations to this year’s guests of honor for their many years of commitment and loyalty to our company. We thank Hermann Johanning and Helmut Michaelis for 40 years with our company, and Bodo Krüger and Bernhard Bernsen for 45 years with Mainka! An impressive feat!
Mainka IHK TOP training company
On 24 July 2018, the IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) Osnabrück-Emsland-Grafschaft Bentheim named us “IHK TOP-Ausbildungsbetrieb” (TOP training company) for the outstanding quality of our dual vocational training of young professionals. The official certificate was presented by the IHK’s vice general manager Eckhard Lammers.
The title "IHK TOP-Ausbildungsbetrieb" is bestowed on companies whose training programs are of exemplary quality. The certificate sends a strong signal to students and parents that a dual training program with Mainka gives young persons a first-rate career start.
We are very pleased to have received this honor and thank the entire preparation team for their outstanding commitment.
Beacon project of BP Lingen
We are currently cooperating with the Lingen-based construction company Hofschröer to build the new administrative and service center of BP Lingen. The building complex for the administrative section will have three floors.
The pyramid-shaped dome over the atrium was lifted onto the roof by a 500t crane on 16 July 2018. This dome extends 15m above the building roof and, once completed, will be colorfully illuminated by light projectors.

50,000 man hours without accident!
Construction of an air separation plant in Röthenbach a. d. Pegnitz
In our current construction project “Construction of an air separation plant” in Röthenbach a. d. Pegnitz for our customer Linde AG, we have once again demonstrated that work safety is the top priority in our company.
On 19 June 2018, the entire construction site team had worked a total of 50,000 man hours without a single accident!
The Linde AG project managers came from Pullach in person for this special occasion, and presented each of our employees on the site team with a T-shirt as a small token of their recognition and a reward for their impressive performance.
