Mainka delivers complex industrial construction projects in safety-critical environments, particularly in the chemical industry, the energy sector and specialist logistics. These range from new production facilities to power plants, converter stations, gas terminals and turnkey laboratory and research buildings.
Not all of these are greenfield projects. Brownfield projects bring additional demands: the production next door keeps running while we work. We master both, and both require the same thing: planning that holds up and processes that still work when things get tight. That is precisely why we generate more than 90 percent of our output in industries where mistakes can have far-reaching consequences – even beyond the construction site itself.
What sets us apart from many others is not only the depth of our in-house range of services. From excavation, concrete and civil engineering, pipeline construction, technical building services and traffic areas through to the turnkey handover of the building, everything comes from a single source – and if you wish, we stay on at your facility afterwards with industrial maintenance. For you, this means one point of contact instead of a chain of trades pushing each other's schedules back, and a team that resolves interfaces in-house instead of making them your problem.
What further distinguishes us from other construction companies, especially larger ones, is that "we build it ourselves". More than 750 employees at eight locations deliver an annual output of more than 330 million euros, and around 60 % of them work where it counts: on the construction site. Where others falter because a project is considered too complex, that is where we get started.
Above all else, we put occupational safety first – not as a chapter in the quality manual, but as the benchmark for every decision on site. In an operating facility, a small mistake can very quickly turn into major damage, for our people as much as for your production. That is why we invest an average of two percent of our annual working time in training, work with clear processes and give everyone the right to stop any job that is not safe. The fact that our accident rate in 2025 was 0.00, while the industry average reported by BG BAU (the German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the construction industry) was 42.95, and that we won the German Occupational Safety Award in 2019 and 2025, is therefore no coincidence, but the sum of many such decisions. We build safely – or not at all.
The fact that we have been building since 1895 and are still family-owned today shows above all in our short lines of communication: decisions are made quickly, contacts stay the same, and anyone who calls us does not end up lost in a corporate structure. But we have no intention of standing still. We continuously develop our processes, use modern planning and control tools such as BIM wherever they genuinely add value to a project, and work with models such as Mainka Project Partnering, in which the client and the contractor sit down together at an early stage.
Within the Mainka Group, with more than 1,300 employees, we bring together a wide range of expertise, from building and civil engineering to road and traffic infrastructure construction, precast concrete construction and building services engineering (TGA), right through to construction materials logistics. Each sister company operates independently, while at the same time expanding the overall capabilities of the group.
